Since I put in XP, my motherboard sees nothing that is put in the D drive, and thinks CD's put in the other drive are in D:. The motherboard decided to call the second drive the F, instead of E. The CD burner in D drive works well, but computer does not recognize media placed there. Put one in, and hit the icon for that drive, and computer asks you to put something in. How to fix this? Thanks. Jim
Are all the drives listed in the Device Manager? Start/Run/devmgmt.msc
Are all the drives listed under the Disk Manager? Start/Run/diskmgmt.msc
An attempt at a quick fix would be to uninstall both CD drives via the Device Manager then reboot the computer.
XP should redetect & handle the letter designations.
