dsasu Is a beginner here at D-A-L
Unhappy Clear Window

When I start windows and log on to any user on the system, it takes noticeably longer than it used to. It says loading user settings. It does allow to log in however once logged in, none of my desktop icons appear and the tool bar at the bottom does not appear wither.

I try to use the key board to call up the start menu however it does nothing. No icons or toolbar appears on the screen, just a blank desktop.

I am able to use the computer as normal by pressing ctrl alt & del for task manager however this problem is frustrating.

I have tried to search for virus or spyware but i dont seem to have any. This is even more annoying because my compputer is a new computer that I have had for less than 3 months!

PLEASE PLEASE HELP

Re: Clear Window

I second brain_damage's suggestion as a key to the problem. (Why it happened).

Also there are these fixes:

Does Ctrl/Esc bring up the start menu?

Run the edits on Kelly's site at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Line 117: Restore Taskbar and Start Menu

Line 195: Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar

Read the top of the page for info on running the edits.
