graphics problem - graphics card crash

hey,

wondered if somebody could help me with a problem. I switched my computer on this morning, and the screen was smaller than the laptop monitor. I managed to solve this problem but then got a message up saying "windows has recovered from a serious crash" or something, I cant remember properly, but then I sent an error report and got redirected to a website that said this:

"Thank you for submitting an error report.

Problem description

An unknown error occurred in Intel Graphics Driver, created by Intel® Corporation"

and now the screen is the right size and I dont get any error messages but the text and other graphics are kinda blurry in places. I know that'd nothing major but its driving me insane. Its not as clear as it once was. What can I do? The website recommended that I download the latest driver but I shouldnt have to do that. This only happened after I lent my laptop to my flatmate when she was playing on the Sims 2 and I know this game demands a lot from the graphics card or whatever, could it have been the Sims crashing that caused this?

ANY help much appreciated please! thanks

P.S forgot to mention Im using plug and play Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS and 910GML Express Chipset family...

Re: graphics problem - graphics card crash

i dont know what could have caused this problem, but i have had similar error messages saying "your computer has recovered from a serious error...." try rt-clicking on an empty space on the desktop, click properties and go to the "settings" tab you will see a Colour quality section, click the arrow at the side and from the drop-down menu chose "Highest (32bit)" click apply. If that doesnt work, try re0installing the graphics driver from the disk (if you got one) if not, download it from here: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...stems&lang=eng
The intel website should come up and then a box asking if you want to download.

info about download:
This file is written specifically for the Intel® 852/855GM, 915G, 945G, 915GM/GMS, 910GL,and 910GML chipsets and will not function with any other product. View the README file for installation information and the RELEASE NOTES for driver version details. This driver package contains the version 14.18 drivers for Windows* 2000 and Windows XP.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Re: graphics problem - graphics card crash

thanks ever so much! turns out my flatmate said the sims 2 completely crashed when she was on it and that i guess must have caused it - managed to fix the problem now though by changing the resolution lol I thought it was on the right one but obviously not. anyway, all fixed now thankfully!

cheers anyway!
