Computer crashes when playing most games

Hello,

I am having problems with playing most games in fact the only games which don't seem to crash are counter strike source and half life 2 (however even eventually they will but not as quick as the likes of Battlefield2, F.E.A.R and Battlefront 2)

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 cpu 3.4ghz (2cpus)
Windows XP Home
1022mb RAM
Graphics: Radeon 9800 series (256mb)
Sound: Realtek ac'7

I have windows active updates and have updated both my graphics card and sound card to latest versions and it still happens.

I brought computer to predominantly play games and can't......so feeling a bit down

Battlefield and FEAR I know are RAM hogs, what kind of RAM and at what speed does it run? Even though you have enough memory it might be too slow to keep up with your games. (I had a similar problem a few months ago.)

Thanks for the reply (even though mine is a bit delayed).

I have 1Gb RAM.

There is some good news though after poking around different sights about star wars battlefront 2 i found that if i change the in game sound options from hardware to software (they said turn it off totally) it stops booting me out.

I was being booted during gaming sessions as well and i found my processor wasnt seated properly, try that if prob persists.
