CANNOT FORMAT HP Pavilion F1723

My friend has had so many complications with the above computer that she tried to format the hard drive. There were no back-up discs supplied.

When she tries to format the drive it works normally until over 90% and then she gets the message:

'The system is not fully installed please run set up again'

Can anyone help?

any more info please? the only thing I can find with "HP Pavilion F1723" is a 17 inch TFT monitor.

if you've got no restore discs, what Operating System will you be putting back on after you've removed all the data?

Hi brain damage

Only other info I have is Model No. PN115AA.

It is Windows XP

it's a HP Pavilion a700 Desktop.

Have you got a new copy of XP to put on afterwards?

No - I think everthing is sort of factory installed - no discs came with it at all.
