Keep Losing Dialup Connection - Not ISP related

I am running XP Professional SP2 - lately we keep losing our internet connection. It is spontaneous and very frustrating. You can be browsing thru a website fine, and then clicking a hyperlink will send back a "Page cannot be displayed....DNS cannot resolve" error. And sometimes pages are not completely loading (no images).

ISP is Allstream and tech support says no glitches in the line so the problem is coming from our end. I have gone thru the troubleshoot of the modem on my PC - it says it is working fine. Please help.
