CardReaderLookupWindow

For the past two days I've been getting an error message whenever I shut my computer down, that says "program not responding". The program is something called "CardReaderLookupWindow".
Can some one advice?
Thanks

Re: CardReaderLookupWindow

You apparently have a USB device that is triggering this.

You can clear your shutdown list as follows:

Quote:
Open Registry by going to START-RUN and typing REGEDIT. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP and look for AutoEndTasks. On my computer default value is 0. Change it to 1. Thats all. Further more you can reduce the time it takes for Windows to issue kill directive to all active/hung applications. In doing this only constraint that you should make sure exists is that HungAppTimeout is greater than WaitToKillAppTimeout. Change the values of WaitToKillAppTimeout to say 3500 (since default value for HungAppTimeout 5000 and for WaitToKillAppTimeout is 20000)~gw2001

Hello,

I do not have the miracle solution but an easy way allowing not to have this message any more.
this message appears when a peripheral of mass USB is still connected to the closing of Windows (in my case it is is a printer epson cx6600 with card reader or a key USB).
Two solutions:
the first: to stop and disconnect the peripheral of mass USB before closing Windows.
The second: to modify the value AutoEndTasks chains in the Windows register.
method: to launch regedit with the order to carry out
to open Hkey_current_user
to open Control panel
to open Desktop
to create or publish if it exists the value AutoEndtasks chains
to put the value "1" at the place of 0 if it exists or 1 directly in creation.

There will be no more message with closing of Windows.
but attention if you have a recent mother chart which manages peripherals USB in the boot, with the restarting of Windows the system is likely to say to you that your peripheral USB is not system.
in this case it is enough to disconnect the peripheral in question.
The manipulation in the register is without risk it is necessary to be admin or to have the rights to modify the register.
The manipulation is reversible: to put 0 in the value chains.

Greetings JB

Re: CardReaderLookupWindow

OK,
What I have done was:
1) I removed a USB cable from the back of the PC, it was not connected at the other end.
2) I had an Epson printer configured although it was not connected, I think that a part of the program was looking for the printer, I removed it (using windows add/remove).

It seems that these solved the problem
