I am having a trouble removing this ip. I am getting 169.254... I have dell dimension 8300..It has a onboard card. I disabled onboard and install a new pci card.. same. New pci card is getting the dame ip..169.254..I also tried a usb wired adapter but no luck.
I tried netsh winsock reset
I also removed a winsock and winsock2 keys from the registry and reinstall tcpip.

Re: autonet ip

hi there blue bird and welcome to dal the online computer help forum

pleease try this

To remove TCP/IP

Open Network and Dial-up Connections
Right-click any network connection, and then click Properties.
On the General tab (for a local area connection) or the Networking tab (all other connections), click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Uninstall.
In the Uninstall Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) dialog box, click Yes.
Note

To open Network and Dial-up Connections, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Network and Dial-up Connections.
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure.
If Uninstall is dimmed, there are no other protocols installed. You cannot uninstall TCP/IP if no other protocols are available.
If you remove TCP/IP, you lose the following:
Internet Protocol security (IPSec)
Active Directory
PPTP and L2TP tunneling

Installing TCP/IP

Install TCP/IP

if you dont have any joy with please get back to me on this thread

hope this helps

If it dont fit...force it. If ya cant force it...get a bigger hammer. If it breaks...it probably needed replacing anyway.
