Graphics Card Prob

I have look through prior threads and searched online and yet i connot find a specific answer to the problem i am encountering. My graphics card is not running at itsmaximum potential and I do not know why. Prior to reformatting my computer i would get >70 fps in counter-strike and now i barly get 50. I have typed in all commands which would optimize the playing and ive turned verticle sinc off as well. And still no help SO if anybody has an idea or solution it would be awsome. THank you

Re: Graphics Card Prob

As this happened after a reinstall I would assume that some update you had was erased.

Do you have the latest ATI Catalyst? Even if so you might want to remove it and reinstall it.

https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...ge&folderID=27

Also use the Catalyst uninstaller first:

The Catalyst Uninstaller is an optional download. We recommend using this utility to uninstall any previously installed Catalyst drivers prior to installation.

Also do you have the latest DirectX? 9.0c?

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Also check Start/Run/ dxdiag | Display for any errors.

Re: Graphics Card Prob

I have already downloaded and installed up-to-date graphix drivers and dx9, i made it a point to get them straight after the reinstall. So idk where that leaves me as far as possibilites to why this is occuring.

Re: Random Crashes

After having reviewed your previous posts regarding both graphics card and system crashes could you please offer a description of your current condition and what has changed over time?

Were any of your previous issues resolved or are we still dealing with a basically on-going series of events revolving around your graphics card and XP crashes?

I just think it would expedite our ability to help if we had a brief current synopsis.

Was this system ever stable? What changes have you tried?

You have the latest ATI drivers? Have you tried another graphics card? Have you tried reinstalling XP? etc.

Re: Random Crashes

Currently my computer runs fine except for the random crashes(and btw my computer freezes prior to the complete reboot after the first time i try to restart) and the graphics card problems. No previous issues have been resolved at all. The last time the system was working perfectly and stable was over the summer, at that time I had no system freeze or low fps problems. I have tried reformatting several times. Uninstalling/ reinstalling drivers. I have not yet tried a different graphics card because I do not have one that would be close to the same quality as the card im using right now.

Thanks for continuing to help.

Re: Random Crashes

And I do not know if this will have any relevance but since theses problems have been occuring my mouse tends to jump around. FOr example i will be pointing at an icon and then the pointer(without me even moving) will jump to the opposite side of the screen.

I would suggest as a test to try another card. Regardless of the card quality see if the basic issues persist.
