Trying to Install old games on PC woth windows XP

Hi,

I am new to this forum and would appreciate some help/advice. Apologies if my question is a bit dumb but I use computers a bit but don't totally understand the programming/techie bit.
I have a PC installed with Windows XP, and I am trying to install some old games which have minimum requirements if Windows 95/98/2000.
I keep getting a message as follows:

C:Windows\sysytem32\autoexec.nt. System file is not suitable for running MS-Dos and microsoft windows applications.

I thought that i would be able to run these games on my pc but keep coming across problems. Can anybody help?

Thanks

Peter

Re: Trying to Install old games on PC woth windows XP

im not sure if this will work, but install the game as usual, on the desktop shorcut rt-click and click properties, go to compatibility and tick the box that says run this program in compatibility mode for
and then chose win 95, 98 or 2000

Hope this helps
Mike
