dragoness Is a beginner here at D-A-L
Boot-up: Hard Drive Failed

It's listen on there: Maxtor Calypso YAR42KJZ

But, then it says: Master Hard Drive Failed

I go into the bios...but it will not detect a hard drive.

I tried doing a Maxtor Diagnosis. Do I need to get a new harddrive? Where could I get a new Hard drive to go on an ASUS N87NX-X, this is my older model for the kids to use and I'm not sure where to get a drive for an obsolete motherboard. Is it gonna be expensive? Please help.

Re: Boot-up: Hard Drive Failed

Did you run PowerMax?

http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/Ma...&downloadID=22

What was the result?

If the BIOS cannot detect the drive I would first off check the connections and perhaps try a new cable.

ATA/IDE are standard drives that will fit all full size boards.

Just Google hard drives:

http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...&q=hard+drives

You need an ATA or IDE. Not SATA or any other. You may need to verify that the board will handle the speed. Price range $50 U.S. and up. You can get a good main brand for @ $100 U.S.
