black screen

After starting normally my laptop works for a few minutes, about 10--15, then the screen goes blank. Any suggestions or is this one for the repair man?

If you haven't already...
Right click go propeties screen saver and click on power. See if the laptop is set to turn off power to the monitor.
Also check whether the laptop is set to go into standby if power is low.
