Mouse and keyboard problems

Before you tell me to post this problem at the hardware section I need to tell you why I think it belongs here.
My keyboard and mouse couldn't work better, it's just they don't work after the windows logo shows up during rebooting.
This problem appeared after I updated the system bios for my Dimension E510. I downloaded them off the Dell web site. During the installation, almost when it was reaching 95%, they (keyboard and mouse) stopped working, so I pressed the on/off button and they didn't work afterward. I unplugged it and turned it back on.
This is what happens now when I turn the PC on: Dell logo shows up, (light [indicates is working] on the keyboard is on), another Dell screens appears ( light is still on) and finally a Windows screen shows (light is not on anymore and mouse neither keyboard work). After that I can't use neither of them.
Now, here is everything I have tried in order to solve this problem:
1. I tried using other USB ports.
2. Opened Boot menu by pressing F12 and ran Hardware Diagnostic. It checked all the devices and it said everything was working properly.
3. Opened the Set Up menu to make sure everything that is supposed to be enable
is and they were.
4. On the Set Up screen, under maintenance, I pressed Enter on the option Load Default to reset all option to the way they were when first used.
5. I contacted Dell support, which is only available trough chat and the representatives are incompetent fools, and the rep told me to reset the jumpers. Tried that and didn't work.
6. I talked to one of the guys from the Computer Service Department of my workplace and he told me he has never seen or heard something like this. He said it was very bizarre. I hope you don't think the same way.
I believe there is nothing wrong with the hardware but the OS. Seems like the PC loads the drivers but the OS does not( damn Windows XP!!). That's why I believe this problem belongs here.

Any info you can provide about this, any website or comments will be greatly appreciated. thx

Re: Mouse and keyboard problems

Is this computer still under warranty?

If a BIOS update failed at 95% and you had to power off I would question the BIOS. Not XP.

Perhaps try to load the BIOS again. (Why were you updating it?)

If reloading the BIOS or rolling back (if that is an option) doesn't work there is always a reinstall of XP:
