Black Screen at Boot Up????????

When I go to boot my Hp Pavillion 3200 up, all I get after the HP logo is a black screen with a blinking cursor in the upper left hand corner. About a day ago I deleted a program that I wasn't sure about what it was..It was called...NIDIVA ...I think that had something to do with the video card but not sure. I thought about that and then went into the troubleshooting harddrive screen and tried to fix it...Because my screen resouloutin got really big. I think I had corrected it but now all I get is the black screen....Can someone please help

Re: Black Screen at Boot Up????????

nvidia is indeed a graphics driver. Your card won't work without it.

Can you boot into Safe Mode? Repeatedly tap the F8 key immediately after the HP logo.

If you can get into Safe Mode there are a few things we can try. Otherwise we need to go in a different direction. So let us know if you can get into Safe Mode.

System Restore? Or are you using an HP disk?

Anyway it was a good idea. Let us know what happens.

Re: Black Screen at Boot Up????????

OK ... cool. You may still need to reload the nVidia drivers but you will see.

Re: Black Screen at Boot Up????????

They are all online:

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

You just need to verify your exact Graphics Card but unless it is very old then the latest XP drivers will work.

As mentioned above Safe Mode will work around your Graphics Card so that you can access XP and install the drivers if necessary.
