Web site access

My godson was using my computer and now I find for some reason I cannot access certain sites. For instance 411.com; mapquest.com; and jibjab.com; will not come up. I am connected using a cable modem and have no trouble accessing other sites (including this one that I found through google). Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Re: Web site access

This could be so many things...

I would first suggest running a system restore to a point prior to your problems.

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Let us know if this resolves this.

Unfortunately, this did NOT resolve the problem.

Re: Web site access

Is this I.E.? Is it always the same sites? Only a few or many?

Check your settings > start > Control panel > Internet Options >

Under the Security tab > look under Restricted sites.

Set the Level to Default.

Under the Privacy tab > check Sites and also set to Medium.

Under the Advanced tab > Restore Defaults.

Reboot the computer.

If you still have these issues try:

start/run cmd

Then type: ipconfig /flushdns

Did all that but still can't connect to certain pages. Yes it is IE. I can now connect to mapquest but get no graphics on the splash page. Still get a "Page cannot be displayed" error when trying to access 411.com ??? It seems only to be a few sites. I can get into most of my favorites (including some https:// sites but not all). I did download Hijackthis and get a log but not sure I should put it in this post on this forum.
