no post images on a lcd but ok on a crt

hi there i have been overclocking an amd this evening and ran in to a few probs which meant i could not reboot the pc so i could not get in to the bios to change settings
i reset the cmos by taking out the battery for a couple of minutres and all was ok then except that when i boot the pc i can not view any post images until i get to the log on page for xp apart from that all is ok

i have had too set up another monitor which is a crt as a replacement screen now when i boot up i can see the post screens so now i know when to press del to enter the bios and now all settings are now back to normal

if i have explained my problem right

in short if i have the normal lcd monitor on the pc which is a viewsonic i can not view the post screens images untill i get to the xp log on page but if i put an old crt monitor on i can view every thing from boot

i am a little confused any help would be appreciated

update as of 10 30 pm

i have turned the pc off and on about 20 times tonight with the lcd monitor connected and i am still having probs i hav euninstalled/reinstalled drivers 3 times still prob persists

i have just tried booting a gain and guess what i can now view the complete boot sequence including asus post screen

wtf does that mean bloody computers

i wou;d say problem solved but can anybody explain
