From minor to major problem

Hey all, usually I wouldn't ask for help on a forum like this but I've not gone to sleep yet I've been so stressed about it all..

Basically yesterday I noticed that my CD drive wasn't being recognised.. Not too sure why but apparantly i-tunes or nero often causes this problem... Anyways it just wasn't appearing in explorer so I did what both nero and i-tunes suggest and deleted the "upperclass" out of the registry or something.. I did back it up...

Then on my next startup my mouse and keyboard do not function at all.. The only button I can press is the on and off button. the mouse is motionless as is the keyboard..

When restarting I can't even get into safe mode.. I got on once but my laptop froze which was such a pain in the arse.

It's literally the last 2 days that I've been noticing problems. It's really annoying me

By the way I'm on another PC as my laptop (acer aspire 3500) is totally unusable

Have you got a boot disk? Are you running XP?

Hello Fairdinato,

Help DAL members to help you, what's your OS?

I assume your talking about your laptop keyboard and not a seperate one.

Are you able to borrow prefably a USB mouse, plug that in boot up, see if that helps you with a system restore.

Re: From minor to major problem

I've had a strange day actually.. I spent all day trying to get through to acer.. and they helped me reboot my operating system without the xp disk.. That was fine but my CD drive still wasn't appearing.

However an hour ago it randomly started saying that it had found a new hardware device.. I looked into my device manager and it was my CD drive!

Very strange!
