I switched out the Dell system loaded Cd and loaded a Sony DVD R/W and now get the "blue screen of death. I had this system error previously and was told to go to run, msconfig, startup and select selective startup. From there I do not remember what I was to unclick under Selective Startup and then which items to leave checked under Start up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much! I went into the Startup under msconfig and unclicked all of the items I was not sure to what they were related. I then was able to successfully play a DVD. Since I now how my computer on a Selective Startup, can I leave it that way without running into other difficulties?
uh-oh....Now when I load a page I now get an alert with the following message..."The document contains not data" and button with OK. When I click on the OK button the page is there and the message is gone. Have I unchecked something on the Selective Startup that needs to be rechecked?
jephree,
Boy! Bet you can tell I am definitely a newbie on this stuff! I just switched from dialup to DSL and that might be part of my problem with the message. I have not gone into the computer to delete (mainly because I do not expactly know when to go and what to do) my old dialup connection.
