wireless network problems

i bought a computer with built in wireless network a year and a half ago, i just resently reinstalled my computer and i have no internet connection, i have tried adding hardware but it just does not recognise my card. When i bought the computer, no installation disks were provided, are there any alternatives??? i cannot afford another adaptor.
my card is called 'Wireless LAN 802.11b/g device

Are you saying that the device is not detected after reinstalling XP?

And that it is onboard?

The driver would most likely be included in your chipset drivers.

We need to ID the motherboard and or chipset.

i realised it was best to buy a usb adaptor. I still have a problem. Since i rebooted my comupter my soundcard doesnt work!!!! i have no software at all! is there any alternative??
