I just bought Norton SystemWorks 2006. While I was installing the software I got a message saying it could not install Norton GoBack due to multiple boot disk or something like that. I looked this up on the Norton support site and the answer to the error message was don't install GoBack. I called Norton support and they told me since I was running this on a HP notebook I need to call HP and have they tell me how to get rid of HP PC Recovery. I have not did this yet. I have searched and cannot find anything about removing HP PC Recovery. I do not use this. Does anyone know how to get rid of this? I really hope that this is what is causing GoBack not to run and not the hidden Hibernate partition.
Thanks for the input. I have the HP Pavilion Media Center dv5139us Notebook PC. Part of the problem is my friendly people at Circuit City who I bought the laptop from got rid of the parition that the HP Recovery was on and made it into a very small D: Drive. Now I no longer have the Recovery partiton or the CD/DVD for recovery.
A couple of other questions: I am running Norton Antivirus 2006 and it also runs Norton Protection Center, I have noticed that on bootup when Windows starts it seems to take forever to be ready because Norton Protection is checking everything. Any recommendations?
Also if I want to setup up a restore for my computer just the way its sits at this time what are the recommendations for doing that, i.e. os and all programs and data?
Removing the restore partition
One recovery option available, but not recommended, is removing the restore partition from the hard drive. While this action will free up storage space, the only restore or recovery option available is a compete, destructive reformatting of the hard drive using the set of recovery disks. The options to recover individual drivers or applications, and to reinstall the operating system no longer exist.
