Deleting files

Someone downloaded a pornographic file (3,55MB, InterMedia Video File) in my computer. And now I can't get rid of it anymore. The file is invalid, and I can't open it. And I either can't delete it. When I click the right button of the mouse, it gives me options: Open with WinDVD, Open, Add to Sync List, Add to Burn List, Open With, Send To: , and that's it. I have tried Delete button on the keyboard, and also the left click + Delete, and File > Delete, but nothing works... (but it does on the other files).
I also have Norton AntiVirus, but it hasn't found anything.
I really hope you can help me!

Thanks advanced
(desperate) Karmen

Have you tried deleting it in safe mode?

Re: Deleting files

Isn't intermedia some kind of oracle database file? First thing I do is try to rename it in the hope of disassociating it with perhaps some other liked process. Can you do that?

I can't rename it, I can't delete it, I can't change its location, I can't do anything with it :'(

I'm going to try this Safe Mode thing.

Re: Deleting files

I'm not sure what you're seeing is actually the file in question, if that makes sense. Can you right click and view it's properties? Have you searched your directories for that file? May be more than one entry. Have you searched your registry too?

Re: Deleting files

If you still aren't able to delete the file in safe mode you can use MoveOnBoot to delete the file. This program will delete the file before Windows even starts, it works well I've been recommending it for a long time. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: Deleting files

On the rare occasion that MoveOnBoot does not work because of tagged files this is a good next step:

http://www.jrtwine.com/Products/DelFXPFiles/

Download:

http://www.jrtwine.com/Products/DelF...lesInstall.zip

I've only come across a file once that MoveOnBoot couldn't remove but this latter program did.

jephree, I love you the rest of my life. This thing really worked without any problems. I have tried Safe Mode, Killbox, MoveOnBoot etc, but nothing apart from that worked. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! And thanks to everybody else who tried to help!

Karmen
