1.Click Download Now, to download the file.
2.When the File Download window appears, click Save (Windows XP
users will click Save) this program to disk and click OK. The Save In:
window appears.
3.From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to
select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop.
4.If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. The file
icon appears on your desktop.
how to install:

1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R94481.EXE.
2.The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or

Setup.exe) file can be found later.
3.The Self-Extractor window appears.

If you are going to use the Sound Card did it come with a driver (setup) CD?
In either case before you do anything locate the device in the Device Manager Start/Run/devmgmt.msc and Uninstall it and reboot. Then load the new drivers for whichever you intend to use. This process will clean out your old drivers.
I tried all that and still no sound I get this message under the device maneger ( Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) and under sounds and audio devices it states that there are no audio devices.
Is this a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop? If so Dell does not list drivers for it. Did you get a driver CD from Dell?
Also we need to verify/clarify which device you are trying. I would leave out the card for now and concentrate on the on-board audio device. Re-engage it in the BIOS and see if you have a Dell CD for drivers.
ok I took out the card and now all that is in is the on board device(sound) which is a soundmax intigrated audio. I turn on the sound in the bois also. I downloaded the driver from dell and installed it. It still says the same thing. ( Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39). I have also tried the resource cd from dell and the same thing still! Do I have to re install xp again?
Re installing XP most likely won't change anything. Audio driver loss is very common after re installing XP. It is one of the few drivers that XP does not cover.
What is listed in the Device Manager for Sound?
Also just to verify: Your re install was XP SP2? Or you loaded SP2 after the re install?
I did re install xp sp1 but then dl sp2. I have heard that if the chipset wasnt installed that some other devices may install but the sound will not. what do you think and if so how do i found out if they were installed?
