heather29 Is a beginner here at D-A-L
system will not boot up

hi after a storm we had last week my other pc will not load anything my mouse light does not come on key board or monitor, how ever it is getting power and the fan runs as well as the light on front blinks..i think my MBR is messed up but i cant get in to the BIOS to changethe boot sequence to use the setup disk or boot disk.. could someone help me please ..

Re: system will not boot up

You could try resetting the CMOS.

Remove the main power and open the case.

ESD - What can I do to avoid damage

Remove the motherboard battery. (looks like a camera battery (flat disk)).

Also check the area around the battery for a 3 pin jumper block probably labeled JBAT. If found move the jumper sleeve from pins 1&2 to pins 2&3. Wait a few minutes then return the jumper to 1&2 and then replace the battery.

See if it will boot the BIOS then.

ok tried that and it did not work ... now the light does not come on or anything ... any other suggestions ?

You could try unplugging the main and then hold the Power button in for at least a minute.

Re-plug and try. This sometimes has a resetting affect.

If no go then you could try stripping the system and try rebuilding or else try a local repair shop.

Replacing the PSU would be my first test in order to see if the motherboard reacts.

You can also visually inspect the motherboard for any damage.
