No sound after Re-Installing XP

Hi, I'm sorry if this is a re-post, but I'm in a real mess here. I just recently re-installed Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 8400 PC after getting a BSOD with BAD_POOL_CALLER on it. I re-installed XP Home Service Pack 2 last night, and today I can't get any sound except from my computer's internal speaker. Headphones and my Altec Lansing V4121 Speakers (I think that's what they are) don't provide any sound. All of the cords are connected, but my CPU can't recognize my speakers. They worked before I re-installed Windows XP, but now they don't. Can someone give me some answers as to how to resolve this little problem (I hope it's little...)

Did you have any discs that came with the PC, if you look in device manager

Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> System >> Hardware >> Device Manager what does it have for your sound devices
