Angry Windows Media Player hungapp error

Ok I have read many posts on many websites on this stupid hungapp error and I don't think a single one has narrowed down to what the cause of it is. So well here is my problem with it, and mine is with Windows Media Player (I was having the same problems with iTunes but I uninstalled it and gave up)

szAppName : wmplayer.exe szAppVer : 10.0.0.3802 szModName : hungapp
szModVer : 0.0.0.0 offset : 00000000

how the heck do I get rid of this stupid thing?! AVG doesn't pick it up, neither does Spybot, Adaware or Windows Defender, plus uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't help I tryed this with iTunes, I am about ready to give up!!! GRRR!!!

Re: Windows Media Player hungapp error

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware and or software?

Also: look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

Re: Windows Media Player hungapp error

Yes new within the last week and a half. no errors in the system portion of the even viewer. the source says Application Hang, the even id is 1002
Hanging application wmplayer.exe, version 10.0.0.3802, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

this is the description

This error did start with iTunes I can either pinpoint it to around the point that I installed a MSN Plus Live script for iTunes to when I uninstalled Quicktime because I was getting playback errors, this all seemed to happen in the same day

Re: Windows Media Player hungapp error

Try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

If that doesn't help then I would try installing WMP 10 on top of itself:

Re: Windows Media Player hungapp error

I would not use 11.

Why can't you use 10?

If you need to uninstall first then do so.

Beta software should not be used trying to fix problems.

Re: Windows Media Player hungapp error

well the reinstall seems to have fixed the problem, for the time being at least. I'm now going to try and reinstall Quicktime hopefully I will have some success with that on now too
