Monitor Problems after XP Pro Upgrade

I just upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro and now my monitor is completely messed up! It's all garbled looking and I can't read it, as well as the colors being messed up.

When I go to the device manager it says my display adapter is an unknown device and when I try to reinstall drivers, it says it can't find any drivers.

HELP!

I have an EMachine T2885 system. I was looking for my original installation disk that had XP Home on it, hoping it would have the driver I needed, but I can't find it at the moment!

Any help?

Do you know if your Graphics are on-board or do you have a Graphics Card?

Check: start/run dxdiag | Display > Device

Or please post back this scan: http://www.d-a-l.com/hardware-scan.php

eMachine shows an on-board device unless you have installed your own card.

You will find the basic Intel drivers here:

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/index.htm

You just need to verify your chipset and or motherboard.

I went to this site and this was what was posted for the drivers I need:

Intel® 82845G Graphics Controller
End of Interactive Support Announcement
These products are no longer being manufactured by Intel. Additionally, Intel no longer provides interactive support for these products via telephone or e-mail, nor will Intel provide any future software updates to support new operating systems or improve compatibility with third party devices and software products.
THESE DOCUMENTS ARE PROVIDED FOR HISTORICAL REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY AND ARE SUBJECT TO THE TERMS SET FORTH IN THE "LEGAL INFORMATION" LINK BELOW.For information on currently available Intel products, please see www.intel.com and/or developer.intel.com

Also, I found my original emachines set-up disk that had the drivers on it. I tried to reinstall them and it said there was an error.

I have also tried downloading numerous other compatible drivers, none of which will download correctly.

Right now, my monitor is set on the 640x480 lowest setting and also the lowest 4 bit color quality. It will not let me change or adjust either of these. Also, monitor type says default monitor.

The device manager says "unknown device" for the display adapters. When I click reinstall drivers, it takes me through the installation menu and let's me go through the majority of the install for:
Intel(r) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller
Then it warns me this has not passed windows logo testing to verify it's compatibility with windows XP (although this was running perfectly fine on XP Home - it wasn't until I upgraded to XP Pro that I had this problem). I clicked continue anyway. It seems to install almost all of the files and right before it's finished, it says:
Cannot install this hardware
Intel(r) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller
There was a problem installing this hardware
The data is invalid

Any suggestions?

Thanks! I did this and this was the response I got:

The system is using the generic video driver. Please install video driver provided by the hardware manufacturer.
To test DirectDraw functionality, click the "Test DirectDraw" button above.
Direct3D functionality not available. You should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer.

I have not installed my own card, so this machine would have what came with it.

Do you have any suggestions? This is so frustrating!

Re: Monitor Problems after XP Pro Upgrade

Did you try this driver:

. Video: Intel® Extreme Graphics [WIN2K_XP.EXE] (5410KB) 6.14.10.3762_cert 3/16/2004

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...4&submit=Go%21

That is direct from your motherboard via Intel.

If that does not work Intel relates this driver to your chipset:

. Graphics Driver [WIN2K_XP14103.EXE] (6037KB) 14.10.3 6/28/2005
