Hi all
I have a trivial problem that I have never come across. I have a Fulitsu siemens Amilo laptop and I have decided to re-format the harddrive as it was full of junk. The problem I am getting is that once I load the windows xp disc(original) it loads all tthe data as normal. when it gets to the stage where is asks you what you want to do, I press entre and it go´s to the license agrrement F8. press that and thei I get the next screen to format the hardrive. This when the laptop just shuts down. I have done this for several time and It manages to start the reformating but it shut down again. Now I have a harddrive with no OS. When I ran the laptop as normal before the re-format and loaded windows it would stay on with no problem.
I hope someone can help.
leave your laptop off for at least 1 day in a sutiable enviroment (i.e underbed), then try again it could be something to do with bios permissions and or the temperature control ( you might be surprised as to what this does im had simular problems to this)
did you alter the boot order in the BIOS (press F2 when it starts)
I've got a Fulitsu siemens Amilo laptop and a couple of day after buying it I reformatted the drive (to get rid of AOL norton and all other bundled software )with a legit copy of XP and used the keycode that was on the sticker underneath.
I had no problems, after it was up and running I needed to use the amilo driver disc

I managed to get it going at last...The problem was that it was over heating, Once I cleaned the fan I managed to re-install with no problem what so ever. Now I am happy to have my laptop working at full strength!!!!!!!!
the laptop is quite a leg warmer, the cat also like the warm air blowing out
Glad you're all sorted
