missing standard modems

Hi can any body help me out with a problem of missing standard modems,?

I am trying to add a standard 33600 modem from the list that should be there under add new modem. I tick the box that says do not search for a new modem I will select from a list. But although the standard modem option is there when i select it no mdems appear in the right hand window where the list should be. I have tried this on 2 of my friends pc's and they have a full populated list of modems.

seems strange that have the list and i do not all I get under standard modems is com cable between two computers and parallel cable between two computers, But no standard modems

cheers in advance for any ideas you may have
kev

Hi thanks for your reply

I don't have a modem installed. I am in spain and have a track or radio phone with a 9 pin serial connector that you must use for internet accsess with this type of phone.

I need to just add a standard 33600 modem and attach it to my pc serial port on com1 or com 2. My problem is that when i go to add new modem and tick the box that says dont find my modem i will select from a list. In the left hand window it says standard modems while in the right hand window there are no modems to choose from. I have set my friend up with the same phone and laptop at his house with no problems, he gets a list of standard modems to choose from. I cant understand where my list has gone or how to add or populate the list. Everybody thinks or says what you have said what modem do you have, and i keep saying I dont have one, i just want to select a standard 33600 from the list of standard modems but they dont appear in my list?

Can you or anybody else out there help me with this one, I'v tried everything i know and am getting nowhere Cheers again kev
