-changing my keyboard language from usa to uk

-all my programs are acting like its the first time i've opened them.

As a first response you might want to post a HijackThis log for review by our Pros in that section:

Please follow the instructions HERE & then post your log in a new thread in the Spyware, Adware, Viruses and HijackThis Logs section.

(Not in this section please).

Please specify what issues you appear to be experiencing along with your log.

thanks for answering so quickly
it (whatever it is) isn't letting me download anything from websites either now, it says the webpage may not be available n i should try again later, but i was trying to download another program a while ago n it wouldn't let me have that either.
i forgot to say, when i try to go in to d: when there's a cd in there, it says d:\ is not accessible, incorrect function.

Re: not saving any settings whatsoever

Here is a direct link to a Highjack This .exe

http://216.180.233.162/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe

Can you download that?

Also:

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware or software?

If this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

no it's saying server unavailable and it comes up with a box saying the website is either unavailable or cannot be found. is there an offline installer because that might work?

things were working okay before, it just seemed to happen out of the blue. at first i tried a restore and it came up with a blank window when i tried to go on system restore so i typed 3 things i found in to run (regsvr32...) and it worked then. when i restored it didn't make any difference and now it seems to have deleted all my previous restore points aswell (i thought the only way to do this was to turn it off and back on again?!)

a minute ago i had to press F8 and return to the last known settings that worked because winlogon.exe, lsass.exe and a couple of others had started to fail aswell, but i think that was because of registry mechanic.
