a list of every problem i can think of

Hi, I've decided to write properly because it's easier to understand...lol

I have just realised how many problems I have with my computer but am hoping it is all down to one or two things.

Here is a list of everything I can think of right now:

1 - When I try to run regedit, the PC crashes and goes to the blue screen, where it says PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

2 - Some programs I try to uninstall lead me to the same screen

3 - My Outlook Express disappeared and when I got it back, my identity had gone. It won't let me make a new one either. Does that mean all my e-mails are gone?

4 - I'm unable to download anything from websites, it says "Internet Explorer cannot download.....
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.

5 - All my System Restore points have gone, although I've never turned it off, or deleted them in any other way, if that's possible.

6 - Norton Internet Security 2006 just wouldn't open properly, I've sinced uninstalled it but now I've wasted 60 pounds.

7 - My settings on anything aren't saved, my homepage keeps staying as something with symantec corporation. It just won't save my preference.

8 - On IE properties - Security, it won't let me change my slider to anything below medium. I know you probably don't want to have it any lower any way, but it always used to let me.

9 - Every time I open a program like RealPlayer or Microsoft Works... it acts like it's the first ever time I've opened it, asking me to choose my settings and stuff like that. When I close it and reopen it, it does exactly the same thing.

10- If I put a CD into my D: drive and try opening it, the message "D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect function." I've tried right clicking on it, going to properties - recording and checking the 'enable recording on this drive' box but when I apply it and OK it, it still comes up with the same message. Sure enough, when I right-click on it again and do the same thing, it hasn't saved the checked box, it's unchecked again, like I never did it.

11- Everything from the left column of my Start menu is gone and I can't get it back.

12- On the right column of my Start menu is My Computer. I want it to show on my Desktop but when I right-click it and go on 'Show on Desktop', it just doesn't work, it acts like I haven't clicked it at all.

13- My keyboard has changed back to the USA settings (where 2 = @ instead of " and so on). I tried to change it back but it again didn't save my settings.

I think that's everything, that I know of.

Sorry if I've given anybody a headache now :-/

Bear in mind I can't download any programs from websites, I tried System Restore before all my checkpoints disappeared and it didn't work and that it seemed to start off with all my e-mails going blank in Outlook Express before everything else went wrong aswell.

Thankyou very much

Re: a list of every problem i can think of

have you got the XP disc that came with the PC?

can somebody download programmes put them on a disc and them put them on your machine?

have you added any hardware/ software just before these problems occurred?

Edit

I see you posted a hijack log that was where I was leading.

I'll lock this thread as you've already got a thread with the same problems elsewhere
