Safe mode, safe mode networking, Start normally, last configuration, etc. I have clicked them all. When I click safe mode. A bunch of numbers and letters appear on the screen and it freezes. Windows XP Home edition pops up,a dn little green dot runs back and forth like it is loading and then all of a sudden the computer shuts down and restarts back to the black screen. Do you have a Microsoft XP CD or was XP pre-installed (OEM) on your computer?
If the former boot the CD into the Recovery Console as seen here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;314058
First off run
chkdsk /r
If that doesn't help try
FIXBOOT
Then if still no go next try
FIXMBR
If XP was pre-installed (OEM) you should have the same features although getting there may be a bit different depending on the computer manufacturer.
If this is the case who is the computer manufacturer?
