no audio device
recently, my computer will stop playing music and internet sounds after its been on for a while. but system sounds are fine. when i look at the 'sounds and audio decive properties', it says i have 'no audio device'. ive found that if i start up real player immediately after i turn on the computer, the sound works and in the 'sounds and audio device properties' it shows my audio device. for a while. i havent recently reloaded or formatted windows (as have many people with a similar problem). do you have any suggestions as to a solution? thanks.
i know all kinds of system information will be needed, but i dont know what to give. so if you could let me know id be extremely grateful.
katie

Re: no audio device
i must warn you, im completely a child of the technology generation. i can play around with computers just fine, but when it comes down to actually knowing anything about them, im dumb. so what i know is that my sound is REALTEK HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO and the location is Location 65535 (Internal High Definition Audio Bus). im not sure if that helps. i have a sony vaio model vgn-s460 running windows xp home. if you know exactly where i can find what you need to know, thatd help me. im sorry im difficult. thank you.

Re: no audio device
Strange. Generally these problems are with Sound or No Sound but say you have partial sound.
You can still hear System Sounds even with the No Audio Device Detected?
Perhaps madmikejt12 will have more ideas.
I will look back at the Sony site to see if I can find a FAQ or something of that nature.

Re: no audio device
I would have thaught the driver would have fixed it aswell
have you tried re-installing WMP and Real Player?
I will have a look around later to see if i can find any more info/ideas.
