Re: explorer problem

Try booting into Safe Mode options:

After the power-on and BIOS POST or your Logo screen repeatedly tap the F8 key or hold the Ctrl key before Windows starts.

Choose: Start Last Known Good Configuration

Re: explorer problem

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware or software?

Any new updates from Windows Updates? Do you have SP2?

Did you try System Restore from Safe Mode?

If this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

If that fails what is the make and model of the computer? What recovery disks do you have?

Re: explorer problem

A repair install will retain your data and programs as seen here:

http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Have you tried different restore points?

You can run System Restore from the Command Prompt by typing:

%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
