XP install prob

Hi, I've just purchased a new system, I bought the components separately and put them together myself. All went fine until the windows installation.
It lets me choose if I want to install RAID drivers and if I want to a system recovery, after that it loads all the setup files for windows, then it says “Starting Windows”, and then I get a blue screen that tells me that windows has shut down to prevent damage to my computer.
It also tells me to run CHKDSK /f and to remove all newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Its a brand new system, and I need to format and install windows on my hard drive.
Its a SATA hard drive and everything should be configured properly.

Hope u guys got some ideas about what could be wrong, I'm guessing that windows don't recognize/can't use the hard drive controller, which btw is JMB363.

Specs:
MB: ABIT AB9, P965, Socket-775

RAM: Crucial DDR2 BallistiX PC5300 2048MB

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4GHz

Graphics card: XFX GeForce 7950GX2 520M 1GB eXtreme PCIE

Audio card: Creative SB X-Fi Platinum - Fatal1ty FPS PCI

HD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM

DVD-ROM: Sony DVD DWQ120AEN IDE OEM

Thanks =)

oh, and the windows is xp proffesional sp1

Re: XP install prob

Hi Ivan,
Is your hard drive plugged in to the motherboard or into a hard drive controller card?
If it's the latter, you will have to plug in to the mobo first, install the windows with the drive in that postion, then install the drivers for the controller card, then reboot with your system drive on the controller card.
Regards.

Re: XP install prob

Hi Ivan,
Sorry about the confusion but in your first post you said you thought the problem might be that your hard drive controller wasn't recognised so I assumed you had a seperate card.
Anyway, have you tried booting from your Windows CD and doing an update or clean install from there?
If you use a drive with a previous windows system on it, you can get shut-down because it doesn't recognise the configuration. It's to stoppeople copying Windows.
Regards.

All the components are new, so the HD has never been used before, but I think I can fix the problem myself. I've been doing som research and I think that it could work if I installed a new RAID driver, or I can use Seagates DiscWizard(or whatever its called) and fomat my HD. And maby booting without the soundcard also would make a defference. Anyway, Ill try to fix it again this weeken(Im at college and my pc is @ home) and if I don't figure it out Ill update my post

until then...
