computer crash!!!??? help

Hi
I hope someone can help, my computer will not boot up, I get a screen apologizing for the inconvience saying that windows did not start correctly. It gives me options of restarting options being
1, Safe mode
2, Safe mode with networking
3, Safe mode with command networking
4, Last known good configuration
5, Start windows normally

I have tried 1,4,5; but get the same screen up each time.
I am using windows XP, have F-sucure anti virus, also spy bot and ad-aware and spyware
blaster.
I have not downloaded anything new it was working fine until sunday night, when it would not switch of, we had a small message box up saying something about limewire and a firewall, its something that has popped up many times before but this time it froze and we could not switch of from the start menu so had to turn of from the back of computer, when we went to turn back on then we got the screen as above which we cannot move on from.


I hope this makes sense to someone and would be VERY grateful for any help.

limewire is used by some people for file swapping and may contains nasties.

what firewall are you using?

have you got the XP disc that came with the PC?

Yes I do have a xp disc but I cannot tell you what firewall I am using, is there a way to find out? the computer crashed about 3 yrs ago and we had it sorted by a friend who rebuilt it for us, so I am not sure about the firewall, he gave us a XP disc but it is a copy with a load of numbers written on it.

if the copy of XP is not a legit copy there is not much more that can be done as you'll not be able to install the updates and fixes that may help sort the problem out
