Forcing Boot?

Hi,
Due to some hard drive issues I started getting the blue screen at start-up that says:

Quote:
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001901FD, 0x86723cc0, 0xc0000102, 0x00000000)
My question is this, if I keep getting this screen how the hell am I suppose to get into WINDOWS to do these steps? I know what the problem is already and how to fix it; I just can't seem to get back in.

I tried starting in SAFE MODE and that didn't work Do I need to use the command prompt?

Re: Forcing Boot?

Did you try all the Safe Mode Options?

If so try booting your XP CD and enter the Recovery Console to run chkdsk /r

Re: Forcing Boot?

I tried booting from them all and I get it.

I also did the Recovery Console with the Windows XP Cd once and then restarted and such, and now it gets to "Press any key to boot from CD...." but it wont go any further.

Just tried like 5 more times and I got it to get it to boot from CD. Going into Recovery console now.

Re: Forcing Boot?

I did CHKDSK /r and it said it found and fixed one or more errors, however when I try to boot it stays at "Verifying DMI Pool Data" after it lists PCI devices.

There is a lot to read on that error:

Have you run a diagnostic on your hard drive?
