Re: error caused by power dvd

Is this a new problem? Were things working OK previously? Any new hardware or software?

If this is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

PowerDVD is a product of CyberLink. Can you find CyberLink?

Did you install this software or was it pre-installed on your computer? Do you have disks for either this software or your computer's software?

Also:

Look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for red X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

Re: error caused by power dvd

If you just installed Nero then i would suspect a conflict between it and PowerDVD.

Check the file associations via start Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types > DVD

Re: error caused by power dvd

How many DVD programs do you have?

Nero

PowerDVD

Roxio

???

Anyway I am just suspecting a conflict.

You can highlight the file line then choose Advanced and manually select the program that controls that file type.

Were you able to play DVD's prior to installing Nero?

Re: error caused by power dvd

Do you have WMP 10? Will it work at all or just play DVD's?

See if reinstalling it on top of itself works:
