Warning message

I periodically get a pop up "Warning" message which reads "attribute error rate changes from 100-200" I am unable to attribute the pop up to any particular event I perform. It seems to appear randomly. What is that and how can I fix it? I have Windows XP Svc. Pak 2 and the newly installed Explorer v 7.0. I think the problem started when I downloaded and installed 7.0 but I'm not sure.

Re: Warning message

In general that is an Adobe error. Is there any Adobe service running in the background?

Re: Warning message

I have Adobe installed but I am not aware that it is running in the background. The only way I know to check that is to see what comes up when I press Cntrl-Alt-Del and Adobe doesn't. How else can I check.

Re: Warning message

Adobe appears in the Task Manager with entries such as:

ACR

ACRO

ACRORD

Unless you monitor and edit your startups Adobe does load automatic startups. An updater and a quick start feature.

You can look at: start Run... msconfig | Startup

Is this the full message: "attribute error rate changes from 100-200"?

Nothing else? Is there a box to check for Details?

Re: Warning message

That is the whole warning message. There is no box to check in the warning message popup. I ran msconfig and note Adobe Reader Speed Launch is checked with the notation "Common Startup." I unchecked it based on your comment. /does that now mean tha it won't open automaifally when needed?

Re: Warning message

I just found it is coming from a hard drive health prgramm (HDD Health v. 2.1 Beta), a Pantera Software program (panterasoft.com). The log shows it a list at random intervals stating "attribute seek eeror rate changes from 100-200" followed by the same statement but the numbers frlip to "200-100."

HDD is in the checked list from msconfig. If I uncheck it, does that mean I can periodically check my hard drive health but it won't work automatically?

Tks.

Re: Warning message

You can always run it from All Programs or wherever you put a shortcut.

The msconfig will only stop the start on windows start. You can always go back and recheck it as well. It will remain on the list as an option.
