Received another BSoD and Minidump

Many errors because I uninstalled avast! (it was playing up) and Sunbelt kerio and then reinstalled.

I ran PowerMax 4.23 for maxtor harddrive and at the start the basic 90 second quick test returned:
This drive is failing and must be replaced immediately...back up your work immediately if not done so already... etc
Error code: c962a362
Contact www.maxtor.com

But after running the Advanced test, everything returned fine and passed and the basic one I ran again subsequently: it too returned pass perfectly!

Phew

Here's the minidump I received before this test:

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000008e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 80585490, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: f7cf3928, Trap Frame
Arg4: 00000000

Its different to the ones I've been getting normally and also it was sudden with nothing really happening. I thought I'd sorted all the BSoD's out and I still do.
That said on and off, fwdrv.sys causes me a lot of problems!

I think it was a problem used by overheating to be honest.

Anyone any suggestions for a GOOD ATX motherboard System fan?

I really need one urgently .

Re: Received another BSoD and Minidump

fwdrv.sys is a Kerio driver.

This is a good cooling site:

This is interesting:

This is a great liquid starter kit:

But I have Kerio switched off totally!?

Will I have to manually stop the driver as well?

If so how is that done (I have Autostart software)

Thanks for the links - much too much to review.

Re: Received another BSoD and Minidump

Have you searched for fwdrv.sys from start > Search

If found delete. It is definitely a Kerio file. Or if you still want Kerio try your program.

Autoruns is good if that is not what you have already:

Yep I have that Autorun

Thanks - Autorun lists the drivers so you can delete it from there.

Thumbs up Re: Received another BSoD and Minidump

Is there a problem with Firefox 2 or your site that I can't get into your site specifically using Firefox?

Anyway, that was an absolutely perfect fix! Damn a lady tech told me to put a firewall in while I had done so perfectly without one for 2 years. The minute I installed the first to my fifth (Kerio) firewall in I've been getting endless probelms!

Jephree, seriously my PC is right now running like brand new!! Whats better, with Kerio firewall on my PC and the fwdrv.sys I couldn't shutdown as well as navigate my menus etc. Everything was extremely slow and frustrating. I can't believe that straight after it, everything is as fast as I thought 4Ghz with 2Ghz FSB would be. Amazing and all commands are executed immediately!

Uninstalling the product removed the driver aswell.

One weird happening: after I uninstalled and then booted for changes to take place, the system came up with a few software crashes and 5 consecutive "windows has recovered from a serious error" boxed. I carried on and then it suddenly rebooted.

Since then all is perfectly fine...strange....

It seems like the problem has been this driver and firewall ALL along, seriously.

Thanks a lot Jephree, really great.

Any suggestions for a firewall?

Re: Received another BSoD and Minidump

This site was down for a half hour or so. Don't know why.

At least turn on the SP2 firewall. This blocks incoming threats at least.

Firewalls are very particular. I don't know of any brand that hasn't caused some people problems and been fine with others. There are not many (if any) free ones left and even ones you buy can cause issues.

It is also a topic that is very debatable as someone who has so and so with no problems swears by it while the next one will condemn it.

So it is trial and error I guess for your particular system. Most brands offer free trials. Again SP2's wall is there however basic.

Re: Received another BSoD and Minidump

Well that explains one issue of connectivity then.

Yes about the firewalls, your right. I've tried two paid ones and around 4 free ones. I may try STOPzilla again one time but I'm very cautious as it totally destroyed my system the last time around.

Yes I always have the SP2 firewall running if there isn't a personal one in, no doubt.

You can lock the thread now if you want as all is resolved with this matter.
