System freezes

I recently had a pc built for me but it keeps freezing (everything on screen freezes even cursor and bit defender virus software window). I might be working on the net, might be on desktop (not connected to the net) and it decides to stop working. I have to switch it off at the mains.

It has been took apart twice and all hareware tested. The harddrive was replaced due to failing test second time round. Still freezing.

Spec:

Intel core 2 duo E6400 2x2.13GHZ
Asus P5NSLI skt775 P4 (pci-e) motherboard
1GB DDR2 PC5400 667MHZ
MSI GeForce 7600GS 256MB TD PCI Express graphics
320GB Seagate Sata maybe Sata2 Harddrive not 100%
500 watt power supply
2 X Asus DVD drives (one ROM and other Rewriter)

Windows XP media center service pack 2 with remote USB

I have installed a freecom application to get DVBT freeview telly through my pc (might make a difference) Antena connected through USB

I have checked all temps with application called speedfan all ok.

Any ideas in "novice to computers" language please.

and now started random restarts

Re: System freezes

Freezing without errors is in general a hardware issue. Have you tried the system with all peripherals removed? Remove all the USB stuff at least and see if things are OK.

If it were a software issue you should get errors reported at some point.

Look in your Event viewer: rt. click My Computer then click Manage then Event Viewer.
Or: Administrative Tools/Event Viewer or Start/Run/ eventvwr
Open the system as well as the application tabs & look for red X errors. Click error line for details.
Post back the source & event id & Description especially of errors that seem to coincide with this issue.
Also check the Information lines that might coincide with this issue.

How to view and manage event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

Re: System freezes

Had a look at event viewer only errors are

aplication hangs 1001 & 1002
application errors 1000

alot of warnings for msi installer 1015

alot of warnings for Userenv 1517 & 1524 & W32Time 10

and there is information ESENT 302 & 301 just before it freezes (last time at least)

i dont understand any of that but hope you do

Will try unplugin all USB devices, Should printer be ok though??

Thanks for your Reply and help.
