CD burning issue- need .iso, have .rar
I don't know if this is the correct forum, but didn't see one for cd burning issues or file extension confusions.
Here's the deal. I have a dual-boot system, XP and Ubuntu (linux distro). works great. I need to resize my HDD partitions. My XP one needs to be the larger one, not the linux partition. I sized 'backwards' at linux install, and now need to fix it.
I have d/l'ed Gparted, a resizing program. It shows on my desktop as a .rar file, though its properties say it has an .iso file extension name.
I need to burn this to Cd as an .iso image so I can run it.
When i unpack the .rar, I get one file (22 or so MB) called 'gparted', and another folder called 'isolinux' in which are the folders boot.cat, boot.msg, initrd.gz, isolinux.bin, isolinux.cfg, linux, and splash.lss.
What I need to know is, (using CDBurner XP Pro, one that i've used and been successful with burning .iso images, and very user-friendly), do I simply drag and drop the entire .iso file (that says it's actually a winrar archive)?
Or, unpack it, and select the gparted section, or the bin file, or what?
Not sure, don't want to waste a bunch of CD's figuring it out.
thanks!
