CD burning issue- need .iso, have .rar

I don't know if this is the correct forum, but didn't see one for cd burning issues or file extension confusions.
Here's the deal. I have a dual-boot system, XP and Ubuntu (linux distro). works great. I need to resize my HDD partitions. My XP one needs to be the larger one, not the linux partition. I sized 'backwards' at linux install, and now need to fix it.
I have d/l'ed Gparted, a resizing program. It shows on my desktop as a .rar file, though its properties say it has an .iso file extension name.

I need to burn this to Cd as an .iso image so I can run it.

When i unpack the .rar, I get one file (22 or so MB) called 'gparted', and another folder called 'isolinux' in which are the folders boot.cat, boot.msg, initrd.gz, isolinux.bin, isolinux.cfg, linux, and splash.lss.

What I need to know is, (using CDBurner XP Pro, one that i've used and been successful with burning .iso images, and very user-friendly), do I simply drag and drop the entire .iso file (that says it's actually a winrar archive)?

Or, unpack it, and select the gparted section, or the bin file, or what?

Not sure, don't want to waste a bunch of CD's figuring it out.

thanks!

Re: CD burning issue- need .iso, have .rar

I have gone into winrar, through settings -integration- and told it to not associate itself with .iso files. (haven't rebooted, may have to- that's my next step). however, when i go to d/l Gparted from sourceforge, while it says it's an .iso file, my download manager box says it's a winrar archive. I'm going to go back to winrar and make sure the settings are correct, then reboot, and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for your help.

Hi, i think it's only that when you installed winrar, it registered all the packaged extensions, (and .iso is included) as it's owned, so you must burn your live cd "as is" and not try to unpacked it.

For burning ISOs I recommend either Nero or Alchol 120. Both have very simple user interfaces and are easy to use.
