Exclamation 2 Problems: a) How to alter the Right-Click options...

Hey all

I have three dilemma's.

1a) Firstly, you should know I have altered my Registry and added a few options (like Notepad, Firefox) in there myself for the Right-Click menu in Windows.

OK. I have this as my menu on Windows XP Pro SP2 after choosing a file and then Right-Clickin:

There are more options hidden towards the bottom. Namely my main ones such as "Move to", Send to", "Copy to", "Rename", "Properties" etc.

What I would like is for some menu options to be moved upwards and other downwards. I've tried all I knew and it wasn't successful. Can anyone help here?

1b) Next. If you look carefully 7Zip has an arrow that when pointed to it open a submenu for other options. Winzip, Powerarchiver, Alzip etc do not but are taking up all the screen space when opened, because they display there options all at once on the first menu. How can I change this to make it like 7Zip and have an arrow to open a submenu for all the options rather than cramp up on the main menu like this?

------------
2) If you see this, its my Right-Click options when clicking in an empty space on my Desktop:

How can I add more stuff to the "New" submenu items there and delete others?

These would be very helpful and time saving for me indeed.

------------
3) How can I uninstall Dr.Watson and reinstall it?

Dr.Watson postdebugger (or whatever ist called) keeps crashing and when it does, explorer.exe crashes along with it and so does my PC. Its always that sequence of events. Otherwise all is fine.

Thanks for any help

Re: 2 Problems: a) How to alter the Right-Click options...

Anyone says:

I know of no utility to rearrange or sort the right click menu.

XP cannot do this. If I run across another application I will let you know.

Dr.Watson is an XP file. Dr. Watson is started when XP crashes. It is part of the process that creates dump logs.

If you get this error: "Dr Watson has encountered a problem and needs to close" this is most often associated with a virus.

Re: 2 Problems: a) How to alter the Right-Click options...

Thanks Jephree. Your not just anyone

Well yes, I do get that error, but I don't have a virus. Mine names some dll files and usually something like dhelp.dll or similar which is related to windows imaging itself.

Where can the logs for Dr Watson be found and would you know how to interpret them ?

Thanks. I know i can totally remove them from the right-click and I was informed that by renaming them in the Registry and then changing the name back, then rebooting would make the option thats name was changed to appear at the top.

However, it worked in one instance but not any other.

Thanks anyway

Re: 2 Problems: a) How to alter the Right-Click options...

The Dr. resides here:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson

Or in your strange world I guess that would be D:

Description of the Dr. Watson for Windows (Drwtsn32.exe) Tool

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;308538

Quote:
If a program error occurs, Dr. Watson for Windows starts automatically. To configure Dr. Watson, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. Type drwtsn32, and then click OK.

By default, the log file created by Dr. Watson is named Drwtsn32.log and is saved in the following location:

drive:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINNT\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson

Note Drwatson.exe is an older program error debugger that was included with earlier versions of Windows NT. Microsoft recommends that you use Drwtsn32.exe instead of Drwatson.exe in Windows XP.

Thumbs up Resolved

Meh again.

Well, I knew there had to be something as I've landed across a utility before. Tweak UI lets some functionality arise over your ContextMenu's. But Tweak UI would just jam my PC until closed when asked to apply a command.

I already knew how to and have applied many Registry edits like THESE and THESE in IE, FF, and for Files, Folders and Drives.

However what I was after is found fully on this Webpage for XP: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_qr.htm

This linked to another brilliant page with excellent tweaking tips for XP: http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

That gives the link HACE Mmmm. Now, Mmm only edits the parent level right click menus and tweakui will only edit the "new documents" under new. The hiding of menus is working fine though although it adds a logo to the menu which I could do without.

So another link from there was found to: Context Edit. This can also do much more that others cannot with ShellExt Viewer.

Then I found ALL these utilities: http://www.sharewareconnection.com/t...click-menu.htm

The main one here was RightClick

I'll post back with what I achieve with it soon. Preliminary results are promising.

Danke for the link. Thats the first thing I tried when I had the query.

Re: 2 Problems: a) How to alter the Right-Click options...

Well HACE Mmm offers the perfect functionality,BUT contrary to what it says on the website, when you choose a particular menu setting for a specific folder, it ONLY changes the options for that particular folder not any other folder/file even if it be of similar name

Here's a snapshot of my right-click menu now in comparison to before:

Theres absolutely no point to it if it doesn't change the layout for ALL menu's opened.

Re: 2 Problems: a) How to alter the Right-Click options...

Well at the end of it, even though some functionality was provided by those utilities, not exactly what I needed. Heck not even deleting the Registry keys worked for some reason, and I did exactly what was said!

BUT... this is what worked perfectly:

Magic Tweak

and

ShellExView

The latter I had as Jephree had advised earlier some days ago.

Both were excellent for this!
