Re: computer reboots

Is this a new problem? Any new hardware or software?

If it is a new problem try a System Restore to a point prior to the problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Re: computer reboots

What is the make and model of the computer?

What type of XP disk do you have?

One thing you can try is Check Disk.

Go to start Run... cmd

Then type: chkdsk /f

You will be told that check disk cannot run because you are using this drive. Do you want to run check disk on next boot? Y or N?

Then type Y and reboot the computer.

Re: computer reboots

Here is some reading for you from Compaq. They do not mention if their CD contains the Recovery Console but you could try that before having to reinstall. Boot your XP CD and press the first R for the Recovery Console.

Make sure that the CD drive is set to boot prior to the HDD.

If you can get the recovery console choose to repair: 1)XP Home
If you have no password just press Enter when asked for the password.

In the Recovery Console type: FIXBOOT

Re: computer reboots

Hi jephree
i did a System Recovery....That did the job, everything works fine. the only thing you have to do is reinstall some programs that you put in the system.
all of your data stays the same......
With that i would like to wish you a( Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year!)
Thank You For The Help.........SPOONDUDE
