RPC Server unavailable

I've been having some problems with services and the more I get into it, the worse it gets. It started when the Help & Support would not come up. Now when I look at services thru services.msc, it says "Win32: RPC server unavailable". A prior error (before I dug myself this deep) said "The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process. " attempting to start the service winmgmt with arguments "" in order to run the server:

After reading some threads, I changed some of the services (DCOM & Help) from NT AUTHORITY\Network Serrvice to Local System account. Did that screw it up? I guess I need to get the RPC server working again, then go after the Help & Support (then figure out my orginal problem - why a USB thumb drive won't show up on Explorer). I know a misentered DNS server can cause problems. But I have not changed that file lately. The HOSTS file has only the Localhost 127.0.0.0 in it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Athalon 2.4GHZ CPU , 1 GB RAM, 80GB HDD (45GB free), XP Home OS

Unhappy Re: RPC Server unavailable

Thanks,

I tried everything suggested. It still says RPC server unavailable when I try to look at dependencies in the services. The original problem remains in that the Help & Support will not run which prevents me from doing a restore or creating restore point. The event log says:
DCOM got error "The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process. " attempting to start the service winmgmt with arguments "" in order to run the server:..."

I can ping the DNS server and everything else. The "TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper" service and the "Remote Registry" service are both running. Disk Management (also mentioned in the articles) is running ok too. It's just the Help & Support for restore points isn't accessable. I ran three spyware programs as I do every week. AVG runs nightly w/nothing detected (updated nightly too). I'm stumped (not too hard to do). Thanks for your help.

Re: RPC Server unavailable

I forgot to add the DCOM, Remote Registry and TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper are all Local System Account log ons rather then the NT Authority\LocalService which I sometimes see on some services.
