monitor screen goes black

hi just recently my pc screen goes blank for 5 secs on start up and happens for about first 10 mins, then it seems to right its self. i havent loaded any thing new or differant or changed any settings. when this happens the monitor power light goes off then on, can any-one help it is driving me mad and i am afriad that it will wreck my beloved pc thanks

The power LED goes from Green to Amber? Or green to nothing/off?

Do you get a message such as "No Signal Input"?

Have you checked your power connections and all connections associated with the monitor?

Do you have another monitor to try?
