HD Movies

OK i know this seems fairly simple, and that with a few searches with Google anybody should be able to get some answers on how to burn HD movies on regular DVDs, but every time a do a search HD DVD movies come out. I don't want to buy an HDDVD player or movies. I want to know ( if possible) how to burn High Definition movies to 4 GB DVDs? please tell if this can be done and what i need to do and what kind of software i need. Thank You.

P.S: sorry if this post ends up in the worng section, i couldnt find the movies section.

Re: HD Movies

You need hardware before software.

A Blu Ray burner or equivalent for starters:

Then you need Blu Ray DVD's.

At this point in time both the drives and the disks are quite pricey.

Re: HD Movies

oh no i think you misunderstood my question. alright, let's say i have a HD movie on my computer and i want to burn it to a DVD so the DVD player is able to play it, is this possible?

i'm asking this becouse i believe DVD movies used a different encoding method from HD DVD. DVD players usually output video in 480p and HDDVD players in 1080i or 1080p. i want to know if a regular DVD player is able to handle this much higer resolution?

Re: HD Movies

As far as I know you would need a Blu Ray burner to burn a HD DVD to a Blu Ray HD DVD.

If you are thinking to burn a HD DVD file to a standard DVD (losing the HD) then I am not certain. Perhaps there is some software to do that but it won't be free and I still am doubtful as you mention the encoding is totally different.

Anyway here is another quick Google for burning software:
