What is the exact prompt?

Resetting the BIOS defaults or clearing the CMOS is one way.

Perhaps easier is to enter the BIOS Setup Boot tab and check the options that might be triggering this. Set your old hard drive as the primary hard drive device.

Once you get your XP working properly this might just go away as well.

Re: how to get rid of New installation start up..

ok my problem is:#

i choose to reinstall windows. On my Bios it allows me to choose what windows i want to go on to...i have a mixture of home and professional XPs..
it has a countdown if i was not to press enter anything and will go onto the defaulted Windows. but now there is also oone for Windows Xp set up.. i want to cancel this.. because this has a shorter countdown of 3 seconds and tends to be annoying since i do not want to reinstall windows again!

Find the partition that this Setup is on and delete it.

I think after you get XP reinstalled this issue will vanish.
