XP Media Center mouse/keyboard problems

I have a Dell Dimension E310 with XP Media Center 2005 install. During a boot up, our power dropped. At that point, I started seeing a blue screen error of 0x00000024(0x00190203 0x81B00B28 0xC0000102 0x00000000). This system does not have a System CD. I was able to boot into Recovery Console using an XP Pro CD. I ran a chkdsk /r. The screen stated that the system found and repaired objects. I rebooted the system. At this time, I am able to get to the login screen. However, neither the keyboard not mouse work. I tried to boot into Safe Mode as well as Last Known Configuration. The keyboard arrow keys work on the safe mode screen. Any and all suggestions greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: XP Media Center mouse/keyboard problems

That is a file system error.

Are your mouse and keyboard USB?

Do you have a PS2 port you can try an adapter or PS2 keyboard/mouse in.

Or try reloading your motherboard drivers.

Re: XP Media Center mouse/keyboard problems

Jephree,

The mouse and keyboard are both USB. There are NO ps2 ports. How do I load motherboard drivers without being able to get into Windows?

Thanks,

Nick

Re: XP Media Center mouse/keyboard problems

Good point. Sorry.

You might have your best luck trying to contact Dell:

Jephree,

Thank you for your responses. As usual, I also contacted Dell. So far, I keep getting routed to another department. Thanks again.

Nick

Re: XP Media Center mouse/keyboard problems

They do have a Forum with a mouse section but you have to register etc. and I haven't bothered not having a Dell myself:
