Network and password help

I really know how to mess up my computer. My husband's laptop is the only internet connection in the house and I have my own computer. His connection is wireless. What I tried to do was see if I could somehow get online on my computer through his internet connection so I took a cable (not sure what it's called but it looks like the phone line you plug into the wall) and connected it to our computers. Then I tried to install a network connection (I think) and added a client (or followed the directions to). Well it restarted my computer and now before I can access my desktop it's asking for a password with my name as the user name. I've never had a password on my computer so I don't know what it could be. I've tried all the passwords I would normally use and I'm getting nowhere. Any advice?

If you set no password just hit enter and you should pass.

You can then reset your Welcome screen via Control Panel > User Accounts > Change the way users Log on or off

By the way you were using an Ethernet cable. If you need further help networking the two computers just ask.
