computer shutting down at windows startup

Hi guys I'm new here and have tried searching for my problem but can't seem to find it (I apologise if it's here somewhere and I ahve just missed it)

everytime I turn on my computer, it loads to the windows XP loading screen with the little green bar thingy that scrolls through then it will shut down... I can only start it in safe mode as I have tried starting it with "Last know config that worked" etc. but none of them work apart from just Safe Mode.

I don't know how it happened, I came home from work one day and it was off which is odd as I usually leave it hibernating and this happened... I have tried Restore but that didn't work and that msconfig thingo (not really computer literate as my friend was doing it) and it didnt work either....

Any ideas guys?

What is the make and model of the computer?

Do you have an XP CD or was XP pre-installed?

If the latter do you have the manufacturer's Recovery disk or are you aware of a Recovery hotkey? Perhaps F10?
